Chair, Department of Electrical Engineering The University of Texas at Arlington, College of Engineering | Arlington, Texas We are pleased to announce the completion of our search for the chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at The University of Texas at Arlington. From a strong pool of candidates, UT Arlington has selected Dr. Wei-Jen Lee to fill this important position, effective June 1, 2024. Dr. Lee brings over 39 years of dedicated service to UT Arlington. He previously served as the interim chair of the Electrical Engineering Department and is the director of the Energy Systems Research Center. In addition to his extensive experience at UT Arlington, Dr. Lee was recently named to the United Nations Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET). An expert on renewable energy, smart grids, microgrids, and power systems, Dr. Lee is also the president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Industry Application Society and chairs the IEEE Smart Cities/Education Committee.Dr. Lee holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington and an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University.Cati Mitchell-Crossley and Phuong Ta led this search with Luciano Zuniga, Kati O’Hearn, and Thea Kosmack.
