Associate Dean for Advancement University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School | Chapel Hill, North Carolina The University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School has appointed Shawn Gavin as the new associate dean for advancement, effective July 22, 2024. As associate dean for advancement, Gavin will partner closely with the Dean and other senior leaders across UNC Kenan-Flagler to establish the strategic direction for all aspects of the school’s fundraising, alumni engagement, and donor relations efforts. Gavin joins UNC Kenan-Flagler from Cornell Law School where he served as the associate dean of alumni affairs and development since 2017. In his role as the chief fundraising officer, Gavin oversaw a comprehensive development and alumni engagement program, leading the Law School to achieve five of the top six fundraising years in the school’s history. Gavin also served in key fundraising roles at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. Prior to that, Gavin’s career spanned the nonprofit sector, including leadership roles in child welfare and child policy advocacy, as well as fundraising and management consulting. Gavin holds a bachelor of arts in political science from Kalamazoo College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
