Diabetes Research Center Director University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Health Professions | Birmingham, Alabama Ananda Basu, MBBS, MD, FRCP, has been appointed as the new director of the UAB Diabetes Research Center. His official start date is May 1, 2025. Dr. Basu spent the first 20+ years of his career at the Mayo Clinic where he held several leadership positions and subsequently established a Transplant Endocrine Clinic, a Cardio-Metabolic Clinic, and a Diabetes Technology Clinic. From there he spent several years at the University of Virginia as an endowed professor of medicine and a clinical investigator. He has also authored approximately 200 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and presented more than 150 scientific abstracts in national and international scientific meetings.
