Provost Otis College of Art and Design | Los Angeles, California Otis College of Art and Design has announced that Colette Veasey-Cullors has been named as the next Provost of the College. She will assume her role on August 1.A lifelong educator and a community-engaged photographic artist, Veasey-Cullors has comes to the role from the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City, where she has served as Dean and Deputy and Director and instituted initiatives to increase diversity among faculty and staff, update curriculum, and develop summer programs in partnership with Pace University. Before joining ICP she spent 15 years at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), beginning as a member of the faculty and rising to serve as Chair of Undergraduate Photography, then Associate Dean for the Division of Design and Media, and ultimately Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies.Veasey-Cullors' work has been exhibited throughout the United States, at institutions including the California African American Museum in Los Angeles, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston/Glassell School of Art, and the Chattanooga African American Museum. Her work is also in the permanent collection of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and in the Photographic History Collection of the National Museum of American History, both of the Smithsonian Institution.Colette Veasey-Cullors obtained her BFA in photography from the University of Houston and her MFA in photography from the Maryland Institute, College of Art.Anita Tien led this search with Andy Marshall, supported by Christina Errico.
