Vice President of Operations and Planning The Morton Arboretum | Lisle, Illinois We are pleased to announce that the Morton Arboretum has named David Chearo as its new Vice President of Operations and Planning. In this inaugural role, Chearo will lead planning initiatives, including executing the organization’s new long-term comprehensive site plan, in support of the Arboretum’s strategic goals and priorities. He will lead the teams in facilities, information technology, sustainability, and site design. A long-term leader of capital projects and strategic initiatives, Chearo most recently served as Vice President for Planning and Chief of Staff at Clark University. In that role, he established a new comprehensive site plan, led the design and construction process for major capital projects, and oversaw facilities management, institutional data and research, events, and board operations. Chearo’s previous roles include Chief of Staff to the president of Wesleyan University and Associate Vice President at the University of Chicago. Chearo received his bachelor’s degree in international studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago. He is also a veteran, having served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
