Campaign Director

Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation has announced the appointment of Alex McDougall as the inaugural campaign director, effective January 13, 2025. McDougall joins Houston Methodist – the number one hospital in Texas – from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she was most recently the campaign director. In her new role, McDougall will guide the planning and implementation of the foundation’s anticipated billion-dollar-plus comprehensive campaign. She will serve as chief architect and leader of the campaign, working collaboratively with foundation and hospital leadership to develop priorities, plans, and strategies, and lead foundation staff through the process of campaign planning to advance the mission of Houston Methodist.

McDougall brings over a decade of strategic campaign implementation from her progressive roles at VCU. As capital campaign manager, she was instrumental in the success of VCU’s most recent campaign, a $750 million endeavor that ultimately raised $841.6 million. In her most recent role as campaign director, she worked in close partnership with the vice president of development and alumni relations to lay the groundwork for an upcoming $1 billion campaign.  

McDougall holds a bachelor of science in psychology and a master of business administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
