Executive Director The Fabric Workshop and Museum | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM) has named Kelly Shindler as its next Executive Director (ED). She will assume her new position in September 2024.Kelly Shindler is currently Director of Exhibitions & Public Interpretation at The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. She joined The Pew Center in 2016 as Senior Program Specialist and has earned increasing responsibility, culminating in her membership on the senior leadership team. During her time at The Pew Center, she helped design and implement a $10.2 million COVID-19 recovery funding initiative for Philadelphia’s cultural sector, as well as develop and maintain The Pew Center’s granting programs and procedures.Prior to her work at The Pew Center, Ms. Shindler served as an associate curator at the Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis for five years, overseeing a $2.5M budget and raising major commitments, including the institution’s first Warhol Foundation grant. Earlier in her career she was director of special projects at Art21, honing her storytelling skills, developing new content streams, and establishing partnerships with 400+ organizations in 50 states and 28 countries. Kelly Shindler holds a BA from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in English Literature, an MA in Arts Administration and Policy, and an MA in Contemporary Art History, Theory, and Criticism from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
