Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations BrightFocus Foundation | Clarksburg, Maryland BrightFocus Foundation has appointed David Lowing, former chief institutional relations officer at Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation as the inaugural senior director of corporate and foundation relations. Lowing will join the foundation on February 1, 2025, following a competitive national search.As senior director, Lowing will drive institutional philanthropy in support of BrightFocus’ mission to defeat Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. In partnership with a dedicated team of senior leaders, Lowing will devise a plan to engage new industry sectors and increase public awareness of the foundation’s life-changing work, while growing and nurturing existing corporate and foundation partnerships.Lowing holds nearly 20 years of leadership experience across corporate and foundation relations and grant management. Prior to Conquer Cancer, he worked for 11 years at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in roles of increasing responsibility. At CHOP, Lowing launched the hospital’s first-ever Corporate Council, helping to recruit nearly 90 executives over several years. He raised a combined $150 million over the course of his tenure which included a multi-million-dollar endowment. Lowing also served as a development liaison for CHOP’s Global Health Program and for the hospital’s chief scientific officer.Earlier in his career, Lowing served as the associate director of grant and foundation relations at the American Diabetes Association. He holds a BA in communication studies from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and an MA in media, culture, and communication from New York University.Jack Gorman led this search with Grace Zakim and Lisa Clayton.
