Director of Research Development University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center | Dallas, Texas The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Research Development. This inaugural role will provide the opportunity to build and lead a team dedicated to advancing large grants, from conception to submission. Reporting jointly to the Vice Provost and Dean for Basic Sciences and the Vice Provost and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research, the Director will collaborate with research leadership, research administration, and faculty to conceive and submit multi-PI grants, including PPGs, multi-PI R grants, and non-NIH grants.UT Southwestern is one of the premier academic medical centers in the United States, integrating cutting-edge research with exceptional clinical care. UT Southwestern scientists are currently leading about 5,800 research projects with more than $719 million in support from the National Institutes of Health, the state of Texas, foundations, individuals, and corporations. UT Southwestern operates an NCATS-funded CTSA, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, and many other departments, centers, and institutes spanning the campus. Clinically, UT Southwestern Medical Center operates its own health system and supports many affiliated health systems in the area, including Parkland Health, Children’s Health, Texas Health Resources, and the VA North Texas Health Care System, providing care for millions of residents in North Texas.The Director will serve as an organizing force for complex, team-based grants, identifying opportunities, convening faculty, and facilitating grant submissions. The Director will build a research development department to serve as project managers, editors, and collaborators, ensuring grants are cohesive, comprehensive, and meet the requirements of the sponsoring organization. As the team grows, the opportunity to expand the reach of the position can scale to include supporting individual grant submissions.The Director will have experience working with faculty in an academic or research setting, with experience working with extramural grants and/or contracts.
