Associate Dean for Clinical Research and Chief Clinical Research Officer University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine and Renown Health | Reno, Nevada The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) and Renown Health (Renown) invite nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Clinical Research and Chief Clinical Research Officer (ADCR/CCRO). The new ADCR/CCRO will provide strategic leadership during an exciting time of growth and expansion as UNR Med partners with Renown, a vibrant and locally-governed non-profit health system. As a critical leader in both organizations, the ADCR/CCRO oversees strategic planning, goal setting, and implementation of the infrastructure, processes, and systems to support efficient and high-quality clinical research within the context of the Affiliation Agreement between UNR Med and Renown Health. The Associate Dean for Clinical Research is the UNR Med executive leader setting the mission and vision for clinical research activities and reports directly to UNR Med Senior Associate Dean for Research. The Chief Clinical Research Officer is the Institutional Official for Renown Health and reports to the Chief Academic Officer. In alignment with a growing focus on clinical and translational research, the ADCR/CCRO supports the development of appropriate institutional infrastructure, and the development of clinical research opportunities for students, residents, and faculty. This role will lead research and innovation to improve health outcomes for communities throughout Nevada and develop a national reputation for UNR Med and Renown in clinical research. The ADCR/CCRO is responsible for establishing and providing an efficient and compliant environment to conduct clinical trials through the UNR Med Clinical Research Center and the Renown Health Office of Clinical Research. This position collaborates closely with the UNR Med Senior Associate Dean for Research, with all research activities at UNR Med managed collaboratively by these two positions and the Dean. This role includes time for clinical practice.This is an opportunity for a collaborative and creative physician-scientist to have a dramatic impact on the clinical research landscape in northern Nevada. In addition to overseeing clinical research strategy, activities, and infrastructure, the ADCR/CCRO will serve as the Medical Director of the UNR Clinical Research Center and establish the affiliated clinical research enterprise as a premier clinical trials site. The ADCR/CCRO will develop diversity and mentorship support for research in clinical departments and programs in collaboration with senior organizational leaders and faculty members. Moreover, the new ADCR/CCRO will serve as a principal investigator (or lead site investigator) for research activities conducted across UNR Med and Renown, overseeing their own investigator-initiated research portfolio with the goal of attracting and maintaining competitive external funding. To be successful in this role, the new ADCR/CCRO will be expected to address a set of key opportunities and challenges, listed below:Incorporate UNR Med and Renown’s vision, missions, values, and strategic plans to achieve success in expanding clinical research activities;Facilitate the development of clinical research opportunities for students, residents, clinicians, and leaders to contribute to a developing research culture and positive learning environment;Maintain the continuation of a personal, extramurally funded research program;Serve as a role model and mentor through the continuation of a clinical practice and preferably participation in clinical trials;Collaborate with organizational leaders to ensure financial projections and results accurately reflect strategic goals and broad compliance;Develop and manage operational initiatives with measurable outcomes for clinical research within the portfolio of the Affiliation Agreement;Serve as a conduit for clinical research through collaborations with leadership and physicians across UNR Med and Renown.Screening of complete applications will begin immediately and continue until the completion of the search process.
