Executive Director of Residential Life

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks a strategic, student-centered, and seasoned residential life expert to serve as its Executive Director. This is an exciting and transformational time at UMBC under the leadership of President Sheares Ashby; there is a strong understanding and appreciation for the significant role residential life plays in student success, student retention, and providing a holistic student experience. The search for the Executive Director offers an opportunity to move beyond the here and now and provide an integrated student experience that evolves to match the energy and growth throughout the region. Young and dynamic, UMBC is small enough to provide personal attention to its students yet large enough to offer state-of-the-art facilities and services that support a large population of residential students. Home to almost 14,000 students with roughly 4,000 residential students, the department supports a robust and focused student community.

The Executive Director will oversee residential education, assignments, and housing operations, promoting a culture that respects and honors the identity and diverse needs of students. The courageous decision-maker and dynamic leader will develop a strategic vision that will strengthen service delivery, promote solutions, and empower others to lead and manage with equity in mind. At the intersection of student development and customer service, this position will serve as a critical link to university offices and departments in addressing student needs. As a result of the successful recruitment, Residential Life will be a model of collaborative leadership, effective communication, and inclusive excellence.
