This is an exciting time to join the division as it is poised for expansion with the support of new leadership in the Department, and a strong commitment to reestablishing the division’s presence in clinical practice, teaching, and research. The incoming chief will have the opportunity to build a strong pediatric endocrinology and diabetes program and expand the division’s reach, impact, and reputation.Boston Medical Center plays a vital role in caring for a diverse urban population, maintaining strong ties to the network of community health centers. Boston University is one of the leading teaching and research institutions in the nation. Situated in Boston's Historic South End District, the Boston University Medical Campus includes the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center, New England’s largest safety-net hospital.The Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Division collaborates closely with primary care providers and other specialties to deliver coordinated, comprehensive care and holistic support to patients and their families. The Pediatrics Department serves as a center of excellence for urban pediatric care, handling over 65,000 ambulatory visits annually. The division offers a comprehensive Type 1 Diabetes Program, a multidisciplinary Type 2 Diabetes Program, and an Adolescent Transgender Program. In close collaboration with pediatric and adult GI and nutrition specialists, the division also supports weight management services including bariatric surgery. In a city that is known for its premier hospitals, the division fosters collaborative partnerships within the community, including with Boston Children's Hospital. The incoming chief will lead the expansion of patient care, teaching, and clinical research missions related to endocrinology, diabetes, and weight management in the Department of Pediatrics.The successful candidate will articulate an inspiring vision to drive the division to local prominence, providing strong leadership, clinical expertise, and developing faculty, staff and students. The chief must possess a deep understanding of fostering a positive and inclusive culture—one that prioritizes wellness, embraces diversity, and promotes collegiality.
