Massachusetts Port Authority, Chief Executive Officer

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has named Richard Davey as its next Chief Executive Officer.

Davey comes to Massport from the New York City Transit Authority, where, as President, he oversees the largest mass transit system in North America, with 47,000 employees, a $10 billion operating budget, and over 6.5 million daily customers. Prior to his tenure with New York City Transit, Davey held various transportation leadership positions in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including General Manager of the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail, General Manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and Secretary of Transportation. During his tenure as the Commonwealth’s transportation secretary, Davey also served as a chair of Massport’s board. 

Davey has served as a consultant and advisor on transportation and infrastructure topics, including green vehicle technology and the future of mobility. He has been a sought-after speaker at various forums, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sustainability Summit, the National Governors Association, and the Aspen Institute’s Future of Cities.

Davey earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the College of the Holy Cross and a JD from Gonzaga University.
