Zoë Ryan | Director

Hammer Museum, Director

We are pleased to share that the Hammer Museum has named Zoë Ryan as its next Director. She will succeed longtime director Ann Philbin, who is retiring in November after leading the museum for 25 years.

Ryan previously served as the Daniel W. Dietrich, II Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing the ICA’s exhibition programs, art commissions and public engagement. Prior to the ICA, Ryan was the John H. Bryan Chair and Curator of Architecture and Design at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she managed a collection of more than 250,000 objects. Ryan has also curated large scale international exhibitions including the second Istanbul Design Biennial, "The Future is Not What it Used to Be" in 2014.
