Spurgeon ‘Kenny’ Kennedy | Vice President and Executive Director Community Resources for Justice, Crime and Justice Institute, Vice President and Executive Director Spurgeon ‘Kenny’ Kennedy appointed Vice President of Community Resources for Justice to lead the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI). CJI bridges the gap between research and practice with data-driven solutions to drive bold, transformative improvements in the adult and youth justice systems.Since 2017 Kennedy has served as Program Director at the Justice Management Institute, working with Safety and Justice Challenge sites and leading various technical assistance and research projects. Over his 40-year career, Kennedy has provided technical assistance and support to local, state, and national organizations and justice systems. He is known for his extensive work in the area of pretrial services and has also served as a facilitator or training faculty member for agencies such as the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies, the American Probation and Parole Association, the National Institute of Corrections, the National Institute of Justice, and the Office on Violence against Women. In addition, Mr. Kennedy has authored or co-authored several criminal justice articles and leading publications, including Framework for Pretrial Justice: Essential Elements of a Pretrial System and Agency.Kennedy holds a BS and an MPA from the George Washington University.Phillip Petree and Donna Cramer led this search with Karson Freeman, supported by Ryan Smillie.
