From a strong pool of candidates, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has selected Teshia Roby, PhD to be the Associate Provost, Academic Innovation and Programs.

Roby brings over 25 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with more than 18 of those years in the California State University system. Currently, Roby serves as the Assistant Vice President of Learning & Research Technologies at Cal Poly Pomona, where she is responsible for leading campus-wide educational technologies and works across various disciplines and academic leadership on classroom technologies, faculty content creation, and the digital experience. 

Previously, as a founding faculty member of Cal Poly Pomona's first doctoral program, Roby developed and taught educational leadership courses in digital equity, advocacy through leadership, and actionable insights using K-12 data. In 2012, she led the Graduation Initiative 2015, which successfully reduced the six-year time-to-graduation rate by 8%. Later, as the Education Department chair, she led the successful quarter-to-semester conversion of the department’s 10 programs.  

Roby holds a Ph.D. in Education and two master’s degrees, all from Georgia State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Clemson University.
