Kamrhan Farwell | Senior Vice President for University Relations

Boston University, Senior Vice President for University Relations

Following a national search, Boston University and President Melissa Gilliam have appointed Kamrhan Farwell as the next senior vice president for university relations overseeing External Affairs.

Farwell most recently served the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as the vice chancellor for communications, and she has extensive experience in storytelling, strategic messaging, and crisis communications. During her tenure at UNC, she played a leading role in steering the university’s messaging as a defendant in the 2023 Supreme Court case Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, in which the Court rejected affirmative action at colleges and universities around the nation and declared that UNC’s race-conscious admissions program was unlawful.

She has previously worked in senior roles at the University of Missouri, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Texas at Dallas. Farwell started her career as a journalist, at one point managing the education desk at the Dallas Morning News.

Farwell received her bachelor of arts in communications from California State University, Fullerton, which was awarded with honors. She begins her new role in May 2025.
